Police officers, K9 units visit young Jersey girl after father’s passing

TABERNACLE, N.J. — Members of the Pemberton Township Police Department, the Federal Corrections Institution – Fort Dix, and the New Jersey State Police visited Tabernacle on Thursday to show support for a young girl grieving the loss of her father.

Gianna, whose father Joseph recently passed away after a battle with angiosarcoma, was visited by several K9 units as part of the effort to lift her spirits and support her family during a difficult time.

The Pemberton Township Police K9 Unit presented Gianna with a basket filled with items from K9 units across the country. The visit also included time with K9 Pepper, K9 Tater, and K9 Phantom, giving her the opportunity to meet and interact with the service dogs.

Officers said the visit was a way to extend compassion and support to a local family coping with loss.
