Memorial Day Shooting, Police Car Crash Reported in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Police in Philadelphia responded to two separate incidents involving a shooting and a patrol vehicle crash overnight, both resulting in hospitalizations.

On Monday morning at approximately 6:34 a.m., officers from the 25th District were dispatched to the area of D Street and Wyoming Avenue for a report of a shooting. An adult male victim was transported by private vehicle to Temple University Hospital. Authorities have not released details regarding the victim’s condition or the circumstances of the shooting.

The incident remains under investigation, with no arrests or suspect information announced as of Monday afternoon.

Hours earlier, on Sunday night at around 11:23 p.m., a 9th District police officer was involved in a motor vehicle collision while responding to a priority call. The officer, operating a marked patrol vehicle with lights and sirens activated, entered the intersection of 25th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue when the vehicle was struck by a black 2017 Buick Encore SUV.

The driver of the SUV, an adult male, declined medical treatment at the scene. The officer was taken to Pennsylvania Hospital for evaluation and further care. Officials have not disclosed the officer’s condition, and no citations or charges have been reported in connection with the crash.

Both incidents remain under investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department.
