Two teens arrested in fatal Columbus shooting of 17 year old Ariyaun Burton

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two 17-year-old suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Ariyaun Burton, who was killed earlier this month in Columbus, police announced Monday.

On May 4, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 900 block of E. Dublin-Granville Road. Upon arrival, they located Burton and another male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a local hospital, where Burton was later pronounced dead. The second victim is expected to survive.

Detectives determined the shooting actually occurred in the 900 block of E. Lincoln Avenue before the victims were found on E. Dublin-Granville Road.

Following an investigation by the Columbus Division of Police Homicide Unit, Westin Taylor and Lakai Jones, both 17, were arrested and charged with murder and felonious assault.

The investigation remains active, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at (614) 645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).
