Driver extricated after crash on Poorhouse Road in Tenth District

TENTH DISTRICT, MD — Emergency crews responded Thursday morning to a vehicle collision with entrapment on Poorhouse Road, resulting in one person being transported to a trauma center, according to the Tenth District Volunteer Fire Department.

The incident occurred earlier in the day, prompting a response from Rescue Squad 8, Chief 8A, and Duty Officer 8. EMS Chief 16A from Charles County Department of Emergency Services was first on the scene and confirmed that one individual was still trapped inside the vehicle.

Personnel successfully extricated the patient from the vehicle. Medical transport unit PA8 then transferred the individual to a nearby trauma center for treatment.

No further information was released on the patient’s condition or the cause of the crash. Authorities have not identified the individual involved.

The fire department confirmed the details in a brief public update shared Thursday: “The patient was extricated from the vehicle and transported to an area trauma center by PA8.”

Investigation ongoing

Local officials have not indicated whether road closures were necessary during the rescue operation. It is also unclear if other vehicles were involved or if weather conditions contributed to the crash.

As of Thursday afternoon, no statements had been issued regarding any citations or charges.
