LANHAM, Md. — A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly shooting that claimed the life of another Lanham resident earlier this month, the Prince George’s County Police Department announced Wednesday.

Kyon Adams is accused of fatally shooting 33-year-old Cameron Smith on May 19 in the 9300 block of Lanham Severn Road. Officers responded around 8:20 p.m. and found Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

A second male victim was also shot during the incident. He was treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Investigators identified Adams as the suspect through multiple investigative methods. Preliminary findings suggest the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Adams and Smith. No further details about the nature of the dispute were released.

Suspect held without bond as investigation continues

Adams was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder and related offenses. He is currently being held without bond at the Department of Corrections.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate the case. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact detectives or submit an anonymous tip through the Crime Solvers tip line or mobile app.
