Thief swipes phone, cards in bold Newark car break-in

NEWARK, N.J. — Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a vehicle burglary that occurred on Wednesday, May 21.

The incident happened around 10:50 a.m. in the 200 block of Ferry Street after the victim briefly left her double-parked car. Upon returning five minutes later, she discovered her iPhone, debit card, and credit card had been stolen.

Anyone with information is urged to call the 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Tips can also be submitted anonymously via the Newark Police Division’s website. Confidential tips may be eligible for a reward.
