One injured in South Ocean Boulevard shooting in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A person was hospitalized following a shooting Saturday evening along the 1400 block of South Ocean Boulevard, according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 5:42 p.m. after receiving reports of a gunshot victim. Police confirmed that one individual had sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not released details about the victim’s condition or whether any suspects are in custody. The identity of the injured person has not been made public.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department said officers will maintain a heightened presence in the area as the investigation continues. Officials are urging the public to avoid the vicinity and seek alternative travel routes.

“We ask that the public avoid the area and use alternate routes when possible,” the department stated in a release on social media.
