State Police investigating attempted robbery outside Wilmington bank

WILMINGTON, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted robbery that took place Tuesday afternoon outside a PNC Bank in the Wilmington area.

The incident occurred on May 27 around 2:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the bank located at 1704 Marsh Road. According to state police, an unidentified Black male suspect approached a victim and demanded money.

The victim did not comply with the suspect’s demands, and the suspect fled the scene without taking anything. No injuries were reported, and the victim remained unharmed during the incident.

Detectives from the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit launched an investigation on May 29. As of now, no arrests have been made and the suspect has not been identified.

Police have not released any surveillance footage or still images from the scene at this time.

Authorities seek leads in Marsh Road incident

The suspect’s direction of travel after fleeing the parking lot is unknown, and there are no confirmed details about any potential vehicle involvement.

Police have asked anyone with information regarding the attempted robbery to contact investigators, though a formal request for public assistance has not yet been issued.

Officials have not confirmed whether there have been similar incidents reported in the area.
