Two 18-year-olds charged in Rockville shooting

ROCKVILLE, Md. — Two suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting on N. Washington Street, the Rockville City Police Department announced Friday.

Caleb Jiron, 18, of Frederick, and Ferddy Gonzalez-Soto, 18, of Montgomery Village, were taken into custody shortly after the shooting. Both were armed with privately made firearms, known as “ghost guns,” according to police.

Jiron and Gonzalez-Soto face multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and various firearms violations.

The victim in the shooting remains hospitalized in stable condition, officials said.

Chief Jason West stated, “The Rockville City Police Department responded to two unrelated shootings within 24 hours in our city, and in both cases, arrests were made quickly by our officers. Although arrests have been made, these investigations remain very active.”

Police confirmed that both shooting incidents are unrelated but emphasized that investigations into each remain ongoing. Authorities have not released further details about what led to the shooting on N. Washington Street.

The Rockville City Police Department continues to monitor the situation and is working to determine any additional suspects or circumstances involved.
