Police investigate death of man found in Bronx apartment

NEW YORK — A 58-year-old man was found dead inside a Bronx apartment Monday morning with trauma to his back, authorities said.

Officers from the 48th Precinct responded to a 911 call of an aided male at approximately 10:30 a.m. at 915 Elsmere Place. Upon arrival, police discovered the man unconscious and unresponsive inside the residence.

Emergency Medical Services pronounced the man dead at the scene. According to police, the man displayed signs of trauma to his back, though no further details on the nature of the injuries were released.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification, authorities said.

Ongoing investigation

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. Police stated the investigation remains ongoing.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident as of Monday afternoon, and officials have not indicated whether foul play is suspected.

The scene at 915 Elsmere Place remained active as detectives continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
