Double shooting leaves man shot dead outside shuttered Laurel business

LAUREL, Md. — A 36-year-old Dundalk man was killed and another man critically injured in a double shooting Thursday night outside a closed business in Laurel, Prince George’s County Police said.

Just before 9 p.m., officers responded to the 12000 block of Laurel Bowie Road and found Michael Jordan Thompson suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later.

A second victim, whose identity has not been released, was also shot during the incident. He was dropped off at a local hospital separately and is reported to be in critical but stable condition.

Detectives from the Homicide Unit are working to determine the motive behind the shooting and the events leading up to it.
