Motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A motorcyclist was killed in a multi-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Mount Pleasant Road and Willow Oak Road, according to Chesapeake Police.

The crash occurred around 4:37 p.m. and involved a motorcycle, a midsize SUV, and a pickup truck. Police say the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Mount Pleasant Road while the SUV and pickup truck were headed westbound.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the motorcycle and its male driver on the ground. Life-saving efforts were initiated immediately, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of those involved have not yet been released. Police said the name of the deceased will be provided once next of kin have been notified.

Crash reconstruction team investigating

The Chesapeake Police Crash Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation to determine the sequence of events that led to the collision. Officials have not released information about the condition of the other drivers or whether any citations or charges are being considered.

Motorists in the area experienced delays as investigators worked at the scene. Authorities have not said how long the roadway was impacted.

This is the latest in a series of serious incidents reported at intersections along Mount Pleasant Road in recent months, though police have not commented on any patterns or causes.
