Woman assaulted and robbed at Flushing Avenue subway station, suspect sought

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A 26-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed while boarding a Manhattan-bound train at the Flushing Avenue subway station early Saturday, according to police.

The incident occurred around 1:02 a.m. when an unidentified male approached the victim from behind, grabbed her purse, and pushed her to the ground. Police said the man then punched the woman several times in the face and head before fleeing on foot.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. Her injuries were described as minor.

The stolen purse and its contents were valued at approximately $390, police said.

Suspect description released

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, gray shorts, and a black hat.

Authorities have not released surveillance images and say the suspect fled the area on foot to an unknown location. The investigation is ongoing.
