Woman groped at Elmhurst Avenue subway station as suspect flees on foot

QUEENS, N.Y. — A 22-year-old woman was sexually assaulted while walking through the Elmhurst Avenue subway station on Friday evening, according to police.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:10 p.m. in the station’s mezzanine area as the woman was about to exit. Police said an unidentified male approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks and private area over her clothing before fleeing the station.

No physical injuries were reported, and the victim did not require medical attention.

The suspect left the scene on foot and remains at large as of Saturday morning. Police are continuing their investigation and reviewing station surveillance footage.

The incident has been classified as a forcible touching case.

Police seek suspect in subway station assault

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion and gray hair on his chin, approximately 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt and dark blue shorts.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information on the individual’s identity to contact the NYPD.

The Friday evening subway incident marks another active investigation into forcible touching within the transit system.
