UTICA, NY — Utica Police are investigating a shooting involving a 16-year-old male who arrived at Wynn Hospital with a gunshot wound early Saturday morning.

According to authorities, hospital staff notified police around 2 a.m. on June 21 after the teen entered the Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to his lower leg.

When officers arrived to speak with the victim, he reported that he had been walking near the hospital when he was shot. He stated that two unknown males carried him into the hospital following the incident.

The teen told police he did not know the individuals who assisted him and was unable to provide any further information regarding the shooting or its location.

Investigation ongoing as police seek information

Utica Police have not identified any suspects and say the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. No arrests have been made.

Authorities are working to locate surveillance footage in the area and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The teen is expected to recover from his injuries. Police have not released his name due to his age.
