TOWSON, Md. — A former Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested last week and charged with sexual abuse of a minor, according to Baltimore County Police.
Jonathan Koritzer, 35, was taken into custody Friday following an investigation by the department’s Crimes Against Children Unit. Detectives began looking into Koritzer after receiving a report about an alleged inappropriate relationship involving a minor.
Authorities confirmed that Koritzer had been employed as a deputy with the Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office at the time of the alleged offenses. The department has not released information regarding the minor’s age or the nature of their relationship.
Koritzer is currently being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
Investigation led by Crimes Against Children Unit
Police said the investigation remains ongoing, but no further details have been released at this time. Charges include sexual abuse of a minor and related offenses.
Koritzer’s employment status with the sheriff’s office was not immediately clarified. As of Tuesday, it is unknown whether he has legal representation.
Officials have not stated whether additional charges or victims are being considered as part of the investigation.
Koritzer is expected to appear before a judge for a preliminary hearing.
