Carjacked Honda crashes into truck hours after armed robbery in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. — A man is in custody and facing charges after an armed carjacking in South Baltimore early Thursday ended with a crash involving a tractor-trailer just hours later.

The incident began around 5:14 a.m. on June 19 in the 200 block of Washburn Avenue. According to police, a 49-year-old man was approached by an armed Black male suspect who ordered him out of his vehicle at gunpoint. The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s Honda Civic.

Less than six hours later, at approximately 10:58 a.m., officers responded to a reported crash with injuries at the intersection of South Hanover and West Cromwell Street. Upon arrival, they discovered that the same Honda Civic from the earlier carjacking had collided with a tractor-trailer.

The male driver of the Honda, who has not yet been identified, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Officers recovered a firearm from inside the vehicle.

Suspect to face charges after hospital release

The Baltimore Police Department confirmed that once the driver is released from medical care, he will be taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility to face charges related to the carjacking.

No further details have been provided regarding the extent of the suspect’s injuries or whether any other individuals were involved in the incident.

Investigators have not yet released the name of the suspect pending official booking.
