PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A Pittsfield man was sentenced Monday in Berkshire Superior Court after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a 2019 kidnapping and sexual assault incident.

Glen A. Chadwell, 51, pleaded guilty to kidnapping and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14. He was sentenced to a total of five years in the House of Corrections, with two and a half years for the kidnapping charge and a consecutive two and a half years for one of the assault charges. The third charge will be served concurrently.

The charges relate to an incident in late August 2019, when the victim left Berkshire Medical Center and was walking home. Chadwell and an unidentified second individual allegedly pulled the victim into their car and drove her to another location.

At that location, the victim was assaulted before managing to escape and seek help in the area.

Second suspect remains unidentified

Authorities have not yet identified the second individual involved in the case. The investigation into that person’s identity remains open.

Chadwell was transported to begin serving his sentence following the court proceedings.

A Pittsfield man will serve five years for kidnapping and assaulting a woman in a 2019 case still under active investigation.
