UTICA, N.Y. — A woman with a violent history is facing felony charges after allegedly swinging a golf club at another woman during an unprovoked street confrontation Wednesday afternoon.
On June 25, Utica Police were called to the 100 block of South Street for a report of a woman threatening someone with a golf club. The victim told officers the suspect approached her without warning and began arguing. During the altercation, the woman reportedly threatened to hit her with the club, then swung it in her direction.
The victim was able to avoid being struck and fled the area to prevent further escalation.
Repeat Offender Faces Felony Weapon Charge
Responding officers received a description of the suspect and quickly located a woman matching the details nearby. She was identified as 41-year-old Gabrielle Camp, who has no known address, and taken into custody without incident.
Because Camp has a prior conviction for menacing within the past ten years, her charges were elevated to felony level. The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Camp was charged with menacing in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
