TRENTON, N.J. — At least seven people were shot in two separate incidents in Trenton’s West Ward on Thursday, with one confirmed fatality, according to the Trenton Police Department. The shootings took place just blocks from the state Capitol building.
The first shooting occurred shortly after noon on Jarvis Place, where officers found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported both victims to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
Their identities and medical conditions have not yet been released.
The second, just two blocks away, and more deadly incident unfolded around 9 p.m. on the 100 block of Passaic Street near Calhoun Street. Police arrived at the scene to find multiple gunshot victims, including three men and a woman. Four victims were taken to the hospital by ambulance, while a fifth was transported by private vehicle.
Authorities later confirmed that one of the Passaic Street shooting victims died from their injuries. The identity of the deceased has not been made public, and the conditions of the remaining victims remain unknown.
Responding officers and crime scene detectives recovered multiple shell casings from the sidewalk and roadway on Passaic Street. Investigators remained on the scene late into the night, placing evidence markers and documenting the area.
No arrests reported in either West Ward shooting
No arrests have been announced in connection with either shooting, and investigators have not shared any potential motive or suspect details. The Trenton Police Department continues to investigate both incidents and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
