BALTIMORE, Md. — A Baltimore real estate investor is celebrating a $150,000 Pick 5 prize after trusting a familiar number that has brought him luck in the past, Maryland Lottery officials confirmed Thursday.

The winner, who asked to remain anonymous, regularly plays the number 33031 because of its close connection to a family member. On June 23, he decided to buy three separate tickets with the same number, a departure from his usual single-ticket routine.

He purchased the tickets at Village Liquors, located at 4220 Edmondson Avenue in Baltimore. Each of the three tickets won a $50,000 top prize, totaling $150,000. The retailer will receive a $1,500 bonus for selling the winning tickets.

The winner said he received word of the triple victory through the Lottery app later that evening while at home with family, describing it as a moment of celebration and surprise.

Trusted number proves triple lucky

The man described feeling a strong sense of confidence when he purchased the tickets, calling the experience “weird, but not in a bad way,” which motivated him to buy extra chances on the same number.

Maryland Lottery officials remind winners to sign the back of their tickets immediately and to follow prize claim instructions.

Pick 5 drawings are held twice daily, and odds and prize details can be found on mdlottery.com.
