WASHINGTON, D.C. — A confrontation over stolen property turned tense Wednesday night when a man threatened a security officer and another person inside a Southeast business before fleeing, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Shortly after 10 p.m. in the 400 block of 14th Street SE, the suspect was stopped by a Special Police Officer who confronted him about property taken from inside the location. Investigators said the suspect then issued verbal threats toward the officer and a second victim before escaping on foot.
Police said the suspect was recorded by a nearby surveillance camera. Authorities released images of the individual on Thursday and requested public help identifying him.
The MPD is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Tipsters are urged not to approach the suspect directly but to report any information to police by phone or by text.
