TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Toms River is launching its summer season with a lineup of free, family-friendly events featuring live music, fireworks, and a classic animated movie—all beginning next week.
Toms River Mayor Dan Rodrick today said the township is doubling the number of concerts and summer events this summer.
Rick Perrine, the Director of Recreation and Parks, today shared the upcoming lineup to start July, including concerts, fireworks, and movies in the park to run throughout the entire summer.
Fourth of July Celebration
On Monday, July 1, local Van Morrison tribute band Tupelo Honey will take the stage at 7 p.m. at Shelter Cove Beach, followed by a fireworks display over the water. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early with beach chairs and blankets to secure a spot.
Parking will be available at Shelter Cove and through a shuttle service from Toms River High School East. An ice cream and food truck will be on-site, and boaters are welcome to anchor in the Cove to enjoy the show from the Bay.
On Saturday, July 6, Cigar Box Stompers return to Shelter Cove for another 7 p.m. concert, bringing a variety of musical genres for an all-ages audience. Parking and shuttle arrangements will mirror the July 1 event, and food vendors will again be available. Attendees are reminded that pets are not allowed at these events.
Outdoor movie series begins July 8
The town’s Neighborhood Movie Series begins on Monday, July 8, with a showing of Finding Nemo at 7 p.m. at Silverton Park. The film will be screened on a daylight-visible Jumbotron to allow families with young children to enjoy the movie before bedtime. Attendees can set up on the park’s ball field and purchase snacks from the on-site ice cream truck.
All three events are open to the public and are weather-permitting. Local officials advise residents to arrive early for optimal seating and parking access.
