$2M Gold Rush Ticket Sold in Charles County

Pile of money.

INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A Maryland Lottery player in Charles County kicked off the weekend with a $2,041,396 win on a FAST PLAY Gold Rush Progressive ticket, officials announced Friday.

The winning $30 ticket was purchased at Mutts Liquors, located at 4541 Indian Head Highway. The Gold Rush Progressive game, which launched last July, starts with a $650,000 jackpot that increases with every ticket sold until it is hit.

Friday’s prize ranks as the third-largest progressive jackpot ever awarded in Maryland since FAST PLAY began in February 2020. Only a $2.9 million prize in November and a $2.6 million prize in October 2021 surpassed it.

FAST PLAY tickets are printed instantly at the register or a vending machine and require no scratching to reveal winnings. Progressive jackpots are updated every 15 minutes across Lottery channels.

Retailer receives sales bonus

Mutts Liquors will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket, Lottery officials confirmed.

The winner’s name has not been publicly disclosed.

All Lottery prizes over $5,000 are subject to state and federal withholding.

Players are reminded to sign the back of their ticket immediately and follow prize claim procedures.
