BERLIN — Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie made an unexpected appearance at a Bruce Springsteen concert in Germany over the weekend, raising eyebrows online after he was seen dancing awkwardly on stage during the show.
A video ciculating on social media captured the action.
Christie, 62, was spotted at the concert Sunday night in Berlin, where the legendary New Jersey rocker performed as part of his ongoing European tour. The former governor, a longtime Springsteen fan, was brought on stage briefly during the performance and appeared to sway and clap along to the music. His wife Mary Pat was also on stage with the former governor as the two performed mid-twentieth century historically accurage dances on stage.
“Chris Christie is a DISGRACE to New Jersey. Here he is last night attending Trump-hater Bruce Springsteen’s concert in Germany AND dancing like a wounded cow. We should ban him from reentry into our state,” said Mike Crispi of New Jersey’s America First chapter.

Footage of the moment quickly circulated on social media, showing Christie dancing stiffly while his wife Mary Pat showed off her 80s mom moves, surrounded by the E Street Band. The incident drew immediate reactions from viewers, many of whom were surprised to see him on another continent — and on stage with Springsteen.
Others were not surprised at all.
Christie has publicly professed his admiration for Springsteen for decades, despite a famously rocky relationship between the two. Springsteen, a vocal critic of Christie’s politics, has kept his distance from the former governor, even declining invitations to events during Christie’s time in office.
Christie served as Governor of New Jersey from 2010 to 2018 and ran for president in 2016 and again in 2024 before dropping out. He is currently unaffiliated with any political office.
