GLEN BURNIE, Md. — The Anne Arundel County Police Department reported multiple arrests across the county Monday night, including a robbery in Glen Burnie, a drug and firearm arrest in Crofton, and three suspects detained for theft from a vehicle in Annapolis.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to an assault that occurred earlier in Glen Burnie. The victim, an adult male, said he was attacked by two individuals who stole his cell phone before fleeing. He did not require medical attention. The suspects were described as Black males, one wearing a white or gray hoodie with matching pants, the other in a red button-down shirt and white pants.
Later that evening around 10:15 p.m., a Western District officer in Crofton stopped a vehicle for a littering violation. The investigation revealed the car was unregistered and uninsured with unauthorized tags. The driver, identified as 49-year-old Derrell Russell of Hyattsville, also had an active warrant. A search uncovered suspected heroin/fentanyl, cannabis, digital scales, and a loaded 9 mm handgun. He was arrested and charged.

At 11:20 p.m., Southern District officers in Annapolis responded to an auto theft in progress. Two suspects were arrested at the scene, and a third was later located and taken into custody. Recovered items included large amounts of coins and personal property. Arrested were Carlos Pleitez, 18, with no fixed address, and Nelson Amaya, 28, of Millersville. A 16-year-old male was cited.
Police investigations in all three incidents remain active.
