DOVER, N.J. — A 27-year-old man from Wharton has been arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery at a deli on Richards Avenue in Dover on Saturday morning, authorities said.
According to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Dwayne A. Brown allegedly entered the deli around 11 a.m. wearing a mask, pointed a handgun at a customer and two employees, and demanded money. The employees complied, handing over $360 before the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
Brown was apprehended Sunday following an investigation by multiple agencies. He faces multiple charges including three counts of first-degree robbery, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and three counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault for allegedly pointing a firearm at individuals during the incident.

Under the Criminal Justice Reform Act, Brown is currently detained at the Morris County Correctional Facility. A detention hearing has been scheduled for July 3.
Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll acknowledged the swift cooperation between law enforcement agencies, including the Dover and Wharton Police Departments, Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and the Prosecutor’s Major Crimes and Special Operations units.
“The public should be assured that crimes of violence will be met with a coordinated, persistent, and effective police response until resolution,” Carroll stated.
