Horse Racing Game Pays Off With $31K for Maryland Player

CENTREVILLE, Md. — A Queen Anne’s County resident who once vowed never to play an animated horse racing game is celebrating a $31,521 Racetrax payday, Maryland Lottery officials confirmed Wednesday.

The Centreville compliance officer placed a $1 Trifecta Wheel bet with the bonus on 20 races while helping a friend move earlier this week. Later that day, he checked the results online and was thrilled to see his numbers hit.

The father of two said he plans to use the winnings to pay bills and will keep the news quiet for now.

Citgo, located at 426 South Commerce Street in Centreville, will receive a $315.21 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Player’s first impression proves wrong

The winner admitted he once dismissed Racetrax as “just a cartoon” but has been a regular player since trying it out.

Maryland Lottery officials encourage winners to sign the back of their tickets immediately and review prize claim procedures.

No other Racetrax prizes of similar size were announced this week.
