Newark thief strolls off with $3K worth of construction saws

Newark, NJ — A man casually walked into a Ferry Street construction equipment store and stole two high-value power saws worth $3,000 before escaping in a silver Honda, surveillance footage reveals.

The theft happened shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Globo Equipment Solutions in Newark’s Ironbound neighborhood, officials said.

Surveillance cameras captured clear images of the suspect strolling into the business in the 500 block of Ferry Street. An employee offered assistance, which the suspect declined before quickly grabbing two Stihl concrete demo saws valued at $1,500 each.

He immediately exited the store carrying the saws and fled the area in a waiting silver Honda. According to the footage and police description, the suspect is dark-skinned and wore a black hooded sweatshirt and black baseball cap at the time of the theft.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. has requested public assistance in identifying the individual responsible. Members of the community are encouraged to review surveillance images released by officials.
