Woman groped at Woodhaven Boulevard subway station, suspect fled with rainbow yoga mat

QUEENS, N.Y. — A woman was groped at the Woodhaven Boulevard subway station early Monday morning, prompting a police search for the suspect who fled the scene with a rainbow-colored yoga mat.

According to the NYPD, the incident occurred at approximately 12:17 a.m., when a 31-year-old woman was standing near the turnstiles at the station. An unidentified man approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks before quickly fleeing the area.

There were no injuries reported.

Police described the suspect as a heavyset male with a dark complexion. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark-colored t-shirt, blue shorts, and was carrying a rainbow-colored yoga mat.

The man exited the station following the assault and has not been located. Investigators said he “traveled to parts unknown.”

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
