BALTIMORE, MD — Four juveniles were arrested in connection with a carjacking and handgun violation following a police pursuit early Wednesday morning in West Baltimore, police said.
According to the Baltimore Police Department, the carjacking occurred around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Ducatel Street. Investigators identified the suspects and launched a search that culminated the following day.
On Wednesday, the department’s aviation unit, Foxtrot, spotted the stolen vehicle in the 300 block of Mosher Street and alerted ground officers. Police said the suspects abandoned the vehicle a few blocks away on McMechen Street and fled on foot.
Officers chased and apprehended four male juveniles — two 15-year-olds, one 14-year-old, and one 16-year-old. The 16-year-old was charged as an adult for a handgun violation and taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility. The remaining suspects were charged as juveniles.
Police confirmed that three of the four youths have prior arrests for armed robbery and auto theft.
“The 16-year-old suspect was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged as an adult for a handgun violation,” the department stated.
