PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — The Prince George’s County Police Department is mourning the sudden passing of Corporal Tonya Proctor, a 21-year veteran of the force who died unexpectedly on June 23, just days before her planned retirement.
Corporal Proctor, badge #2830, began her service in 2004 with patrol duties at District II in Bowie. Over her two-decade career, she held several key assignments, including roles in District II Investigations, the Fusion Center, and the Joint Analysis Intelligence Center. Since 2021, she had been serving in the department’s Internal Affairs Division.
In addition to her police work, Corporal Proctor was deeply involved in Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 89, where she served as Recording Secretary.
She is survived by her husband, retired Prince George’s County firefighter James “Mike” Proctor, two daughters, and four grandchildren. Known for her dedication to service and her love of bowling, Proctor was remembered as a committed officer and devoted family member.
The department asked the community to keep her family in their thoughts and prayers as they grieve her loss.
