MAPLE SHADE, N.J. — A Clementon man has been convicted in the 2022 shooting death of a Maple Shade resident outside his apartment, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw announced Friday.
Teon Macklin-Goodwine, 25, was found guilty by a Superior Court jury on charges of felony murder, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to have weapons. The jury deliberated for about two and a half hours before delivering the verdict.
Sentencing is scheduled for August 29 before Judge Mark P. Tarantino in Mount Holly.
The charges stem from a January 16, 2022, incident at the Fox Meadow apartment complex. Maple Shade police responded to reports of gunfire on Gardenia Drive and found 32-year-old Ezekiel Sanders Jr. with gunshot wounds. He was transported to Jefferson Hospital in Cherry Hill, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Investigators determined that Macklin-Goodwine and co-defendant Gregory Berry, 24, of Glassboro, went to the complex intending to commit a robbery. Berry pleaded guilty last year to aggravated manslaughter in a deal with prosecutors and is awaiting sentencing with a recommended 17-year term.
Authorities said both men were directly involved in the events that led to Sanders’ death.
