Utica police seek owner of severely emaciated dog found on Mortimer Street

UTICA, N.Y. — The Utica Police Department and Animal Control are investigating after a severely emaciated black and white pit bull mix was found loose in the Mortimer Street area on Friday afternoon.

Authorities are attempting to locate the dog’s owner and are asking for the public’s help.

“If you have any information that may be of assistance to this investigation, please contact the Utica Police Department at 315-223-3461,” the department posted.

No additional details were released about the dog’s condition or how long it had been in the area.

The case is being handled as an active investigation by both police and animal control officers.
