Police responded to a 911 call at 1 Brookdale Plaza at approximately 1:32 a.m., where they were informed that a man had been shot in the chest. The victim, later identified as Tyrone Simmons of Brooklyn, was taken to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center by private means.
