Driver hospitalized after crash on Route 4 in Fair Lawn during wet road conditions

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — A 20-year-old man was taken to a local hospital after a single-vehicle crash early this week on Route 4 eastbound near Saddle River Road, officials said.

The crash occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle in slick conditions and veered off the highway. The car struck a tree in a wooded area near Wyckoff Terrace before coming to a stop.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, where the driver was treated for minor facial injuries caused by airbag deployment. He was later transported for additional medical evaluation, according to the Fair Lawn Emergency Medical Services.

Authorities believe speed contributed to the incident, which occurred amid wet road conditions.

No other vehicles were involved, and the roadway remained open while crews cleared the area.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
