Utica police investigating death of 6-year-old found unresponsive on Armory Drive

UTICA, N.Y. — A 6-year-old child was pronounced dead Wednesday morning after being found unresponsive at a residence on Armory Drive, according to the Utica Police Department.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:25 a.m. on July 2. Utica Fire personnel began life-saving measures on arrival and transported the child to Wynn Hospital, where emergency room staff continued efforts to revive the child.

Despite those measures, the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Utica Police Department has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials have not released further information regarding the cause of death or any potential contributing factors.

Authorities said updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

The child’s identity has not been released pending notification of extended family.
