Man gunned down on E Street in Southeast DC as chilling video surfaces

WASHINGTON — A deadly burst of gunfire shattered the early hours of Tuesday morning on the 1800 block of E Street Southeast, leaving one man dead and launching a homicide investigation.

Authorities said First District officers arrived around 2:05 a.m. after reports of gunshots and discovered an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene after failed lifesaving efforts.

The victim was identified as 46-year-old Lawrence Meekins, of Northwest.

Police are asking anyone with information to call (202) 727-9099 or text 50411. A reward of up to $25,000 is offered for tips leading to an arrest and conviction.
