Newark cops search for woman wanted for questioning in double shooting

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for the public’s help locating a 26-year-old woman wanted for questioning in a double shooting that injured two women in Newark last month.

Destiny Craig is being sought in connection with a June 20 shooting that occurred just after midnight in the 300 block of Leslie Street. Police responded to a report of gunfire at approximately 12:18 a.m. and located two women who had each been shot.

Both victims were transported to University Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Detectives from the Newark Police Division are seeking to question Craig as part of their ongoing investigation into the incident. She has not been named as a suspect, but police believe she may have information related to the case.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. urged anyone with information about Craig’s whereabouts to contact the department’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

All calls can remain anonymous.
