Woman slashed during early morning argument in Harlem

NEW YORK – A 37-year-old woman was slashed on the hand during a dispute in Harlem early Thursday morning, police said.

The incident occurred around 2:10 a.m. at the corner of West 111th Street and Fifth Avenue, when the victim was approached by an unidentified woman who initiated a verbal altercation, according to the NYPD.

During the argument, the suspect slashed the victim’s left hand with an unknown object, causing a laceration, before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction, authorities said.

The victim was taken by private means to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

Police described the suspect as a heavyset woman, approximately 30 to 35 years old, standing 5 feet 5 inches tall. She was last seen wearing a Yankees baseball cap, a white T-shirt, green leggings, and white Nike Air Force One sneakers.

The slashing adds to a series of overnight incidents under investigation in Manhattan.
