NEW CITY, NY — A Rockland County grand jury has indicted James Valentine, 57, of Cornwall on Hudson, on one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree, District Attorney Thomas Walsh II announced Tuesday.
Valentine is accused of sexually abusing a male child over a period of five years, from 2011 to 2016, while residing in Valley Cottage, New York. The victim was between the ages of 8 and 12 during the alleged abuse.
The charge is a class D violent felony under New York Penal Law Section 130.80(1)(b), which carries a maximum penalty of seven years in state prison.
Valentine is scheduled to be arraigned before Rockland County Court Judge Kevin F. Russo on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police with assistance from the District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit. Officials confirmed the case remains under active investigation.
No plea has been entered as of Tuesday and no further details have been released by the court or law enforcement.
