Queens man charged with rape and child luring

QUEENS, N.Y. — A 63-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a child luring and sexual abuse case in Queens, police said.

According to authorities, Virgilio Taveras of 190-05 Hillside Avenue was taken into custody following an investigation within the confines of the NYPD’s 107th Precinct. Police say Taveras approached the victim using a vehicle, the details of which have been made available through the NYPD’s public information office.

Taveras has been charged with rape, luring a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and sexual abuse.

Images of the suspect and the vehicle used in the incident have been released by the NYPD and are available through the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information (DCPI).

The investigation remains ongoing.
