Seven alleged members of the 8-Trey Crips gang have been indicted in Brooklyn on charges ranging from attempted murder to weapons possession in connection with five separate incidents that took place over a three-month span in East Flatbush.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez and NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch announced the indictments, which stem from shootings that allegedly targeted rival gang members but endangered multiple bystanders — including two women nearly struck while inside a beauty salon and another woman who was hit in the hand.

“These incidents, where only innocent bystanders were struck or almost hit, exemplifies how dangerous this criminal behavior can be,” Gonzalez said.

The defendants — Jaziah Waldron, 17; Jahfyah Selassie, 20; Omar Jones, 16; Malik Johnson, 17; Dylon Val, 15; Dymond George, 21; and one additional unnamed individual — are alleged members of the 8-Trey Crips, a subset of the Crips operating under the Woo umbrella in the 40s blocks of East Flatbush.

They face various charges across five indictments:

  • February 19, 5:05 p.m.: A defendant allegedly fired into a beauty salon on Snyder Avenue, nearly hitting three people inside. One woman reported a bullet passing through her hair.
  • April 25, 6:20 p.m.: Waldron and Selassie allegedly shot at a rival on Church Avenue, striking an innocent woman in the hand. They then swapped clothes, prosecutors said.
  • May 7, 3:50 p.m.: Val allegedly opened fire on a rival in broad daylight while children were nearby. Johnson is accused of carrying the gun in a backpack used by Val. Jones allegedly identified the target and can be heard on video saying, “He’s right there, blow that s—t.”
  • May 8, 10 a.m.: Gonzalez was seen allegedly discarding a gun under a car as officers arrived. Another gun was allegedly found on Waldron.
  • May 9, 7:31 p.m.: George allegedly fired at a rival gang member. No injuries were reported.

All defendants have been arraigned. Bail was set between $20,000 and $500,000, except for Johnson and Jones, who were released without bail.

Tisch credited the NYPD’s Gun Violence Suppression Division and the 67th Precinct Detective Squad for their role in the investigation, which is part of a broader citywide effort that has led to more than 300 arrests and 230 illegal guns recovered in gang takedowns this year.
