Man tries to rob Harlem store with fake gun, flees empty-handed into subway

Police are searching for a man who attempted to rob a Harlem store by simulating a firearm before fleeing into a nearby subway station without taking anything, the NYPD said.

The attempted robbery happened Wednesday around 11:10 a.m. at a commercial establishment located at 251 West 125th Street.

According to police, the suspect approached a 26-year-old female victim inside the store, simulated having a firearm, and demanded merchandise. The individual was unsuccessful in removing any items from the location.

He fled on foot into the 125th Street and Lenox Avenue subway station. No injuries were reported, and no items were stolen during the incident.

The suspect remains at large.
