BALTIMORE – The Baltimore Orioles selected Vanderbilt center fielder Austin with the 93rd overall pick in the MLB Draft, adding a versatile defender with elite speed and defensive credentials to their system.
Austin spent three seasons at Vanderbilt as a utility player before transitioning full-time to center field. Despite a down year at the plate in 2025—he hit .257 with two home runs in 59 games—he remained a standout on the bases and in the field.
He stole 22 bases this season and was honored with a Rawlings Gold Glove award for his defensive performance.
Austin made the final out in Vanderbilt’s season-ending loss to Wright State in the Nashville regional.
He is expected to sign with the Orioles and begin his professional baseball career in their minor league system.
