Flooding shuts down Route 59 eastbound in Clarkstown, westbound remains open

CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. — Eastbound lanes of Route 59 were closed near the Palisades Center Mall on Tuesday due to flooding, according to the Clarkstown Police Department.

The westbound lanes remain open, and traffic is being diverted with posted detours.

“Rt 59 Eastbound Lanes Closed @PCM due to flooding,” the department posted on its official Facebook page. “The Westbound lanes of traffic are open. Please use caution and follow posted detours.”

Officials have not provided a timeline for when the affected eastbound lanes will reopen.

Flooding near the Palisades Center Mall area has caused traffic disruptions in the past, particularly during periods of heavy rain.

Motorists are urged to check local traffic reports and plan alternate routes as crews respond to the closure.
