Homeless man charged for broad daylight execution of Queens woman

QUEENS, NY — A 62-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after a woman was shot and killed last month in front of a residence in southeast Queens, police said.

Audwin Caines, who is undomiciled, was taken into custody and faces charges of murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment in the June 23 shooting of 45-year-old Chaneil Ramsay.

Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 2:36 p.m. for a woman shot outside 176-11 127th Avenue in the 113th Precinct. Officers found Ramsay unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head.

She was transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jamaica, where she was later pronounced dead.

Caines was arrested shortly after the incident. No additional details about the motive or circumstances have been released.
