Miami Beach Woman Targeting Male Tourists in Pepper Spray Hotel Room Theft Operation

MIAMI BEACH, FLA. — A 20-year-old woman has been sentenced following a pair of March robberies in which she lured men to hotel rooms, pepper-sprayed them, and stole high-value watches and other items, according to Miami Beach police.

Esther Torres was initially arrested on two counts of first-degree robbery after the incidents at two prominent Miami Beach hotels. Her case concluded earlier this week with a plea agreement on charges of armed robbery, burglary, and third-degree grand theft.

The first robbery occurred at the Breakwater Hotel, where a man was sprayed in the face with pepper spray and robbed of a Hugo Boss wristwatch, over $200 in cash and foreign currency, and several credit cards.

A second incident took place at the Fontainebleau Hotel, where another man was attacked and had his $22,000 Rolex Submariner stolen. Police said the victim was temporarily blinded by the chemical spray during the encounter.

Both robberies were reported in late March. Investigators say Torres used similar methods in each case to target her victims.
