Police investigating fatal hit-and-run that killed bicyclist in New Carrollton

NEW CARROLLTON, MD — The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run involving a bicyclist that occurred Thursday evening in the 8400 block of Annapolis Road.

The victim, identified as 55-year-old Tara Carter of Lanham, was struck around 7:55 p.m. and later died at a hospital. The driver involved in the collision initially fled the scene but was located shortly afterward by New Carrollton Police with the help of a witness and surveillance footage.

Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it struck Carter. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
