Egg Harbor Township police arrest 8 for DWI over weekend as impaired driving cases rise

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Egg Harbor Township Police reported eight arrests for driving while intoxicated (DWI) over the past weekend, as officials warn of a growing trend in impaired driving incidents.

According to police, the department has made 95 impaired driving arrests so far in 2025, up from 74 during the same period last year. July alone has seen 22 arrests compared to just 10 in July 2024.

“These arrests could have certainly prevented subsequent crashes, injuries, and/or deaths,” the department stated, urging all drivers to prioritize safe and responsible behavior on the roads.

Chief Spano emphasized the importance of making sober driving a daily habit and cautioned against the consequences of impaired driving, stating, “Don’t be front page news because your poor decision resulted in tragedy.”
